Moscow accuses Georgia of bias and assesses the resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly on Tuesday as counter-productive. The Russian Foreign Ministry has released a special statement in response to the resolution on its website.
The statement says that the authors of the resolution actually do not care about the conditions of the IDPs, neither are they busy with thinking about humanitarian intentions. Russia asserts the document, does not reflect the actual situation in the region and it cannot push the process of conflict solution forward.
`The reality is the following - during the past two years there have been two independent states - Abkhazia and South Ossetia and Georgian government and their foreign lobbies sooner or later will have to accept this reality,` the statement says.
On Tuesday, the UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution that recognized the right of return of all internally displaced persons and refugees and their descendants to their homes throughout Georgia and that underlined the urgent need for unimpeded access for humanitarian activities to peoples residing in all conflict-affected areas in that country. The resolution was initiated by Georgian government.
