US Defence Secretary Robert Gates has commented about the US relations with Georgia in an interview with INTERFAX. `Each sovereign state has a right to provide its own security,`Mr. Gates said and added that the support demonstrated to Georgia by the United States was mostly conditioned by the participation of this country in the Afghanistan peacekeeping mission. He said the Georgian people were eager to contribute to the peace operation.
When questioned if Washington would continue to supply arms to the country, Mr. Gates answered that the United States government was interested to provide the country with weapons, with which it would use for Afghanistan peacekeeping mission.
