The US Congress is working on a new resolution to support Georgia. In the document, the situation on the territory of Georgia will be assessed from the positions of the international law.
Speaker of the parliament of Georgia, Davit Bakradze has been visiting the United States since yesterday. Within the visit, he delivered a speech at the forum of the Commonwealth of International Communities and held meetings with Congressional representatives to discuss the issues of de-occupation of Georgian territories, Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Region.
The American politicians stated clearly that the US congress supports Georgia`s territorial integrity and considers it reasonable to impose sanctions against Russia in case it violates the terms of ceasefire agreement.
Russia and Georgia signed ceasefire agreement in August 2008. The document was proposed by the president of France Nicolas Sarkozy.
