Georgian parliament speaker, Davit Bakradze has wrapped up meetings in the US congress, National Security Council and the US Department of State. The key issue of discussion with the Congressmen was the support to the resolution, which the US congress is preparing to adopt in the support of Georgia and demand de-occupation of its breakaway territories.
Bakradze focused on the problem of international monitoring in the occupied territories at the meetings with the congressmen. Bakradze said it was necessary that the international observers could control situation beyond the conditional border of the occupied regions.
Speaker will meet with the assistant secretary of state, Philip Gordon today.
`At these meetings the US authorities expressed firm support to Georgia and we hope this support will be reflected in the resolutions of both chambers, as the congressmen have said,` Bakradze told journalists.
Davit Bakradze has also attended a meeting in the Brookings Institute, where the former advisor to Vladimir Putin, Andrei Ilarionov. The participants of the meeting discussed situation in Georgia`s conflict regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali.
