Hina. Hina's Steering Board on Thursday unanimously re-elected Smiljanka Skugor Hrncevic director of the national news agency. The other candidate for the post was Hina editor Nenad Bach.
Skugor Hrncevic has worked at Hina since its establishment in 1990.
She was editor-in-chief of the agency's home news desk and was elected its director in 2006. Since 2008, she has been a member of the parliament's Anti-Corruption Council.
She graduated from the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb and worked as a journalist at the Vecernji List and Vjesnik dailies.
Presenting her programme for the 2011-2014 period to the Steering Board, Skugor Hrncevic spoke of planned changes in agency development at three levels - the personnel, the organisational and the technological level, to be made in parallel with the introduction of new news production systems.
She also said that a programme for the rationalisation and optimisation of Hina's services was already in the making and that in its adoption and implementation she would cooperate with the agency's editor-in-chief, union representatives and representatives of the workers' council.
Skugor Hrncevic also said that despite the difficult media situation in Croatia, she believed that with better organisation Hina could claim the position of the central source of information in the country.
