Ambassador of the United States to Georgia, John Bass, the Minister of Education of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini and the governor of the Shida Kartli Region, Zurab Arsoshvili visited the Dzevera village school, which was reconstructed after the August war in 2008 by the support of the US embassy.
Within the project of the rehabilitation of schools damaged during the Russian aggression, 16 public schools were repaired and reconstructed in Gori and Kareli districts. Now 3,500 schoolchildren will study at comfortable schools. 2,900,000 dollar was spent on the school rehabilitation projects.
After visiting the school, the ambassador held a meeting with the governor, who reported the situation in the region. At the introductory meeting, the ambassador and the governor spoke about the plans, current problems and intensification of cooperation. The ambassador pledged to give useful recommendations and sponsor social projects in the region.
After the meeting with the governor, the ambassador visited #9 public schools in Gori and met with the English language teachers, who arrived in Georgia within the governmental program from the United States.
