Georgian parliament approved the new constitution of Georgia by the first hearing today. Minister of Justice of Georgia, Zurab Adeishvili introduced the basic points of the document, which have been amended to the lawmakers. The debates lasted three hours and the constitution project was approved with 123 votes against 4.
Opposition MPs reiterated their remarks to the amendments and said the ignorance of those remarks made the amending of the constitution useless. However, most of them voted for the draft.
The majority said the project was the demonstration of great political consensus and the birth of new political class in Georgia.
The lawmakers have not yet agreed on the date of the next hearing, when the document will be approved finally,
