The initiative proposed by Prime Minister - the possibility of purchasing personal computers for 1 GEL per day is only a dream for a half of the population. The reason for this is a spoiled relationship of Georgian population with banks. For today in the database of "Credit info Georgia" 1 900 000 people are. These people are blacklisted and are subject for various restrictions for 5 years in relationships with banks.
Bearing in mind that up to 2 mn people in Georgia need computers as an important part of its life, probably the initiative of the government will be hanged in air. The like initiatives are - cheap credits, cheap insurance and different other "cheap initiatives". The government did not take into consideration the fact that banks will not credit blacklisted clients. It is right as well PM said that bank will be involved in this process, but Education Minister has no such information. "This depends upon the banks do or do not give a credit for blacklisted people, "- Dmitri Shashkin, Education Minister said. For this moment banks are keeping silence, as government did not signed yet the agreement with PC supplier company "Intel" , accordingly nether the banks participating in this program are known yet. In such conditions the initiative of the government is like a "cheap trick", as nowadays several computer company with agreement with banks are giving even more favorable loans for purchasing computers. The situation may be turned in positive direction in case of government putting pressure over commercial banks.
We remind you that on September 21 Nika Gilauri, PM officially declared about new governmental program. "The Education Ministry accomplished the negotiations with company "Intel", in a several weeks the agreement will be signed. People will have the opportunity to buy PC for 1 GEL/day," - he said
