According to Giga Bokeria, deputy foreign minister despite of the agreement about cease-fire, Georgia has a legitimate right to have an effective defense system, GHN reports.
"Georgia fulfilled the obligation under the cease-fire and we have a strong position in this respect, but at the same time Georgia has a right for the effective defense system, "- Bokeria said during the press conference with the U.S. assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs, Alexander Vershbow. He said that Georgia has to determine a new plan for the defense system reform in the strictest time limit.
On the actual meeting of the working group for security issues, which was founded in the frames of the US- Georgia Charter on strategic cooperation, Bokeria noted that during the session the questions of defense ability increase and the integration to NATO were discussed.
"For us it is very important that US is going to support us in the development of a military doctrine and in a military education, "- Bokeria noted.
