NATO doors remain open for Georgia and Ukraine - NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen told Russian news agency a day before the official visit to Georgia. Rasmussen said he expected that that the upcoming NATO summit in Lisbon on November 19-20 will confirm the organization`s open door policy.
At the summit, NATO will confirm the resolution of the Bucharest summit saying that Georgia and Ukraine will become NATO members, if they wish and meet the necessary criteria, Rasmussen said.
The NATO website has reported the agenda of the Secretary General`s visit. Secretary General`s spokesman, James Appathurai has reported that the visit will begin with the meetings at the foreign ministry. Secretary General will be hosted at the Ministry of Defense of Georgia too. The visit will be over after the meeting and a joint press conference with president Saakashvili.
