To the direct question - does the approach of several countries to Georgia changed after 2008 for NATO membership, Rasmussen declined to reply. He as well left without response the question about approximate date of Georgia's possible membership to NATO.
When answering in general he noted that in Afghanistan "we are first of all for own security, for help to Afghanistan not to became an oasis for terrorists."
"Unfortunately some of our militaries are paying too high price for our own security in fight against terrorism. This is my point of view," - Rassmusen said. He said , he hopes that in Lisbon summit, "once more will be proved our position, which we declared in Bucharest, that Georgia will became a NATO member, after it will fulfill the necessary criteria for membership. Meanwhile we will cooperate step by step in the frames of NATO-Georgia cooperation, "- he said.
