Medicines will no longer be sold in drug stores without prescription - the Minister of Health and Social Care of Georgia, Andria Urushadze met with the representatives of pharmaceutical companies today and voiced the reforms, the ministry plans to undertake in this sector of health care. Minister said the cooperation of doctors with specific pharmaceutical companies, participation of doctors in the TV ads and specifying the medicines of specific companies while giving prescriptions.
Minister plans to impose the international standard of prescribing medicines in Georgia soon.
`The time when people were going to drug stores with a scrap of paper and buying medicines in suspicious situation should be over. We must succeed that the method of prescribing medicines met international standards and the patients should know exactly what they buy in drug stores,` the minister said and added that the restrictions would not refer to all types of medicines.
