The European MPs have hailed the reforms carried out in Georgia during the past few years - says the preliminary report prepared by Michael Jensen, which was discussed at the CoE on Wednesday.
The report emphasized the ongoing changes in the judiciary, the strategy against human torture and corruption, police reform and the freedom of media. The European MPs say Georgia`s is moving forward to democratic developments successfully. This report will be put forth for final discussion at winter or spring session of the PACE.
The head of Georgian delegation Petre Tsiskarishvili said Georgia was moving forward like the best student indeed, though there were some remarks and instructions in the report, which would be considered by the government during the implementation of the reforms.
At yesterday`s session, the European MPs elected new Secretary General of the PACE. Voetsek Savitsky has replaced Thorbjørn Jagland on this position.
