Russia`s State Duma has expressed its negative position towards the Belarusian leader. MPs supported Russian President Dmitry Medvedev`s position. They believe that it is inadmissible to ignore all positive elements, which have been accumulating by the peoples of both countries.
The Russian parliament has approved a document proposed by the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) Affairs Committee. 380 members of the parliament have voted for ratification of the document, while 56 have voted against it. All the 56voices belong to the Communist Faction. The Communists think, the ratified document may tense the relationships between two countries even more.
According to the draft statement, `short-term political interests, which have begun prevailing in the pre-election campaign in the Republic of Belarus, should not force a wedge between the friendly peoples of Russia and Belarus.` `Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko`s anti-Russian rhetoric arouses bewilderment and zero tolerance, runs counter the common history of the Russian and Belarusian peoples and the spirit of centuries-long cultural and economic relations, as well as our lifestyle`.
