Georgian Interior Minister is proud of the police reform carried out in Georgia under his ministry. Vano Merabishvili spoke about the success in the reforming of the police structure after the Rose Revolution in the interview with Russian news agency RIA Novosty.
Merabishvili spoke about the latest statistics in the work of the law enforcers saying the frequency of crime was reduced with 5-7 times. He said even the criminals no longer call police officers `dogs` and the confidence to the police was 82%.
The Minister also voiced a new initiative in the interview with the Russian news agency, which turned out news for Georgians too. He said the drivers would no longer be obliged to carry driving licences with them. He said the change would be brought to force next year and it would be yet another step forward to reduce bureaucracy in the country.
`The less the state interferes in the privacy of citizens, the better it will be,` the minister said.
