The 1000th anniversary of the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral is celebrated in the ancient capital of Mtskheta today. October 14 is the Day of Svetitskhoveli; on the same day people marks the Day of Mtskheta called Mtskhetoba. Georgian Catholicos Patriarch has been conducting holy mass in the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, where thousands of worshippers and tourists arrive as usual.
The streets of Mtskheta hosted Thursday various events, exhibitions of folk hand made things and paintings, performances and concerts by various ensembles from regions of Georgia, circus and sport competitions.
The main event of the day - gala concert - is being held in the central square of Mtskheta. Different artists of Georgian pop music are participating in it.
A grand concert is going to complete the grand event in Mtskheta today. The Evgeni Mikeladze chamber orchestra will perform at the concert and famous singers like Nani Bregvadze, Lado Ataneli, Sopho Khalvashi and others will participate in it.
