Georgian police and the EU monitors are controlling the village of Perevi, Sachkhere district, the only village which has been left by Russian occupants since 2008 Russia-Georgia war in August.
Not a single Russian soldier has remained in the village, however, Georgian side fears they might have left the territory mined and therefore, the sappers will begin to check up the security in the village today. The situation is peaceful in Perevi now.
Russian soldiers left the village of Perevi at 18:00 on Monday. They moved to the village of Kardzmani, where they arranged new checkpoints, erected Russian and Ossetian flags.
The decision to withdraw from Perevi village was announced by the deputy minister of foreign affairs of Russia Gregory Karasin on October 14, after the 13-th round of the Geneva international discussions.
