Bulgarian company Kaolin, the largest producer of enriched sand, glass and ceramics in South-Eastern Europe, invested USD 15 million into construction of a plant in Ukraine, UKRINFORM reports with reference to Delo newspaper. This became the largest investment of Bulgarian business in Ukraine.
Thus, the new plant that will be in 200 km from Kyiv in Chernihiv region will be engaged in production of enriched quartz sand. The enterprise was set up on the basis of Papernyansky glass-making sand pit.
According to the publication, the Antimonopoly Committee permitted Kaolin in 2007 to purchase over 50% of stock in the sand deposit in Ukraine.
Papernyansky Glass Sand Pit Ltd. is one of the leading enterprises of Ukraine for quartz sand production. The enterprise is engaged in industrial development of two deposits, Papernyansky and Hrybovo-Rudnyansky, that are related to the largest in the country.
Kaolin structure includes 17 enterprises in such countries as Serbia, Romania, Turkey, Albania and Ukraine. In Ukraine the company possesses Kaolin-Azov, Promineral and Papernyansky glass-making sand pit.
