Ukrainian media intensively airs reportages about the reform in the Georgia police structure and the results of these reforms. TV Company Inter has aired a special coverage about the effective work of Georgian police. `Georgian police has turned into a national brand and now other countries are taking example from Tbilisi,` with these words the presenter began the reportage.
The TV story says that after the Rose Revolution, the new team of Georgian leadership launched intensive and radical reforms; the patrol police, which has replaced Soviet militia, has become the symbol of non-corrupt government; the term corruption itself is now an archaic word in Georgia,` the story says.
The television also covered the work of the service agency of the ministry of interior, where the officers work in uniforms and transparent buildings; the author downplays the criticism and asserts that corruption and the number of crime has been significantly reduced. The authors of the story have interviewed the Minister of Interior of Georgia, Vano Merabishvili.
`The key to the effectiveness of this reform is that the police are not a law enforcement structure, but a service, which protects the interests of Georgian citizens. The confidence rate to Georgian police today is 82%. This is a very serious index, of which the states of Scandinavia can be proud. There the profession of police officer is very popular. Reform is what never ends. This reform was launched in Georgia from the first day and the process continues. If this process is stopped even for one day, everything will go back immediately,` the minister said.
