Speaker of Georgian Parliament, Davit Bakradze has voiced a new legislative initiative at the special briefing today. Bakradze said the information about the owners of media holdings should become public and the new standard of transparency of media should be imposed in the country.
Bakradze said he often heard complaints that the identity of owners of media holdings were not transparent, that`s why the government decided to make the identity of media owners and the sources of their funding became known for public.
`We`ll move a higher standard,` Davit Bakradze said and instructed the Committees of Legal Issues and the Sector Economy and Policy to prepare a corresponding draft law in two weeks.
Bakradze said in two weeks the new draft law would be officially proposed to parliament and the procedures of its discussion would be determined.
