Georgian government is waiting for official response from the government of Malaysia, where two Georgian nationals are under arrest and charged with drug smuggling.
`We will receive official response later today regarding the detention of our citizens. We put forth the issue to take full information about the reasons for which Georgian citizens were arrested. We need official information from the Malaysian authorities,` Georgian ambassador to Ukraine Grigol Katamadze says.
Two citizens of Georgia, Darejan Kokhtashvili and Babutsa Gordadze were detained by Malaysian police last week and charged them with drug smuggling, which envisages highest measure of punishment according to the local legislation.
Georgian authorities and ombudsman have addressed all international organizations for human rights to join the negotiations and protect the interests of Georgian nationals.
