Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn has said he hopes that after the signing of the Ukraine-EU Action Plan and its implementation, Ukraine could obtain a visa-free regime with the EU in a year or two. He announced this in an interview with the parliament's Rada TV Channel.
Lytvyn expressed hope that the Action Plan would be signed at an EU-Ukraine summit.
"The implementation of this plan, not only in terms of adopting legislative acts and other documents, but also in terms of the practical implementation of these documents will help us ensure that Ukraine obtains a visa-free status for its citizens in a year or two. I think that this would remove so many problems," he said.
Lytvyn also said that it was wrong to consider that many Ukrainians would go to Europe after the introduction of the visa-free regime, because, in his opinion, those who wanted this had already left the country without any visa-visa regime.
