Public Defender of Georgia, George Tughushi held a presentation of the Special Report on the Human Rights Situation of Internally Displaced Persons and Conflict-Affected Individuals in Georgia today.
Public Defender presented both Georgian and English versions of the publication to the invited guests and talked about the key issues, and gave recommendations what must be done for protection of the rights of IDPs.
George Tughushi stressed on necessity of improving the social-economical conditions of Internally Displaced Persons and Conflict-Affected Individuals in Georgia.
Presentation was attended by the Minister of the Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, his Deputies, Members of Parliament, representatives of Diplomatic Missions, International and National NGOs.
Special report was prepared within the framework of the project "Support to the Office of Public Defender (Ombudsman) to enhance its capacity to address the situation of IDPs and other Conflict Affected Individuals." The project was funded by the Council of Europe, Commissioner for Human Rights Office.
