The US continues to impose pressure upon Russia to force it to fulfill the internationally taken commitments under the 2008 truce agreement, Alexander Vershbow, US Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs (ISA) stated in a speech delivered at the John Hopkins University in Washington.
Vershbow claimed that the US kept on backing Georgia in its aspiration to become integrated into the North-Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
