Irakli Alasania, Leader of Georgia's oppositional Free Democrats party, has met with Michael McFaul, US President's advisor for Russian issues, and Elisabeth Sherwood-Randal, advisor for Europe and Eurasian issues.
Alasania talked about the election environment, constitutional reforms, launched negotiations with the government and persecution of businessmen in Georgia.
Alasania also met with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Tina Keidenau at the US Department of State. Main topics at the meeting were election environment and media freedom.
"We talked about the negotiations on improvement of election environment in Georgia at meetings in the White House. It was emphasized that democratic development of Georgia is depended on the negotiations. That's why the White House and Department of State will monitor the process. The government must be changed in Georgia through elections," Alasania said.
Alasania is scheduled to deliver a speech at the Columbia University as part of his US visit. Alasania's visit will end on November 23.
