The introduction of common taxes for the foreign goods is an expected demand of EU and WTO; and this is not a problem for Georgia, Davit Narimania, declared to GHN.
"We have differentiated taxes only for the tobacco goods and I think that this question may be balanced. This demand was an expected one and it must be satisfied, " - Narimania said.
He said that the different sources of the production can exist and we have no right to discriminate the import.
We remain you that today WTO and EU demanded from Georgian government to establish common taxes for the imported and locally manufactured tobacco goods, as the existence of the different taxes is a discriminating policy towards the import, in favor of the homeland manufacture.
The excise tax for the imported goods for tobacco is 60 tetri, but for the local production is - 40 tetri.
