Georgian Catholicos Patriarch Ilia II presented world opera star Placido Domingo with a gilded silver Tree of Wishes. The legendary Spanish singer met with His Holiness after the mega concert held in Batumi on Thursday.
Over two thousand people were attending the concert. Placido Domingo along with six Georgian world famous opera singers performed a concert in Piazza Square in Georgia`s Black Sea resort of Batumi. Paata Burchuladze, Nino Surguladze, Lado Ataneli, Nino Surguladze, Nino Machaidze, Ketevan Kemoklidze and Eter Lamoris-Chkonia arrived from various countries specially for this show. The stars sang Megrelian lullaby together. The repertoire list for the concert was selected by Maestro himself.
At the end of the concert, the legendary opera singer announced that he would contribute to the charitable activities of the Paata Burhuladze`s Foundation Iavnana.
Placido Domingo left Batumi by his plane this morning together with Lado Ataneli. In his interview with Georgian journalists the opera star said he was impressed with Georgia and hoped that he would be back soon.
