I hope our Western partners, who were explained in details our position in this situation did understand everything well. Because no other ways exist to come out from such deadlock, - Lavrov said and tried to prove independence of South Ossetia is"the veritable".
"South Ossetia and Abkhazia are independent states, and this is proved by the fact that in Geneva international negotiations they are participating as independent unities alongside with Georgia. Nevertheless Russia, USA, EU and OSCE are mediators. We will uphold actively Geneva international negotiations, "- Lavrov said.
He noted that Geneva negotiations must be dedicated to the main questions that were underlined by Medvedev and Sarkozy in its negotiations in August and September of 2008.
"First question - the peace in South Caucasus. The second one is the provision of necessary conditions for the return of refugees, "- Lavrov said. Russia cannot agree with the situation that these discussions were connected with "Georgian conflicts", as it is mentioned by our Western partners.
