We could reach a synthesis of history and modern life but the reality that we have is not promising not economically neither in cultural perspectives. The legislative acts for the construction of the free tourist area in Kobulety are already in force. The potential investors are well known. But the projects that are to be constructed (that are for the very important incomes) can sacrifice as well important Georgian historic cultural heritage. In many countries, for example in Cyprus, in Bulgaria, France and in many other countries the ancient sites discovered on the place are the additional source for income for investors and no wonder when seeing them in some hotels as a "historic wall" or "pots and pens". Moreover if on the place of the construction a very important site will be discovered the construction will be stopped and a considerable sum of money will be spent by local government for the popularization of new historic monument, efforts are directed to the inclusion of such site to the cultural and tourist infrastructure.

In Qobulety the construction initiated by municipality wiped out the antique époque site.
This is a site the Oxford University financed the archeological dig. Unknown is a fact if the Qobulety municipality, while taking a decision about construction of new tourist zone initially on this place of ancient dig but not a little nearby. They did not take a decision to make the old settling a wonderfully beautiful heritage attractive for tourists. But this is a fact that the municipality head is not aware of the fact of existence of the ancient monument. He asks the scientist for the proof of this fact, or otherwise advised them to apply to the court. However the Aiety is only a myth and a historic past, the governor of municipality demands for the document for proof of the fact. Maybe he will ask as well about Medea's (mythical personage) birth certificate proving Aiety's fatherhood. "If you will present any documentation proving that this site is important from the archeological point of view the construction will be stopped, otherwise not. But if you wish to choose another direction, then you can apply to the Court, "- Guram Mjavanadze, municipality head said to constructors and archeologists on the place of dispute. This is a paradox situation indeed. That recalls the comic situation when person desperately looking for ticket finds it in own pocket after getting the place finally. I recall that situation when watching the TV 25 about archeologists presenting the archeological material instantly on the place for municipality head, who categorically refused to recognize the archeological importance of the disputing site. Is this a ticket? And it is useless to think about the future that is not born out of the past, as it is with the people watching the truth but not seeing it and still demanding some document or court decision.
"This territory for us still is fixed as an ordinary free territory," - Qobulety municipality head said after seeing the "ticket". He even was not interested, and like a Pilate washed his hands referring to the words of President, who said that, this land is for the construction of a free tourist zone.
The director of Archeological museum said what happens now in Pichvnari is a crime as he has an archeological material of 2 800 years old proving the coexistence of Georgians and Greeks. Scientists demanding for the safety of the monument saying nobody have a right to damage it.

Now, a few words about the facts and documents. It is a fact that Oxford University financed the archeological dig on this place, and probably having the basis. As well the Pichvnari settlement is declared as a having the status of historic importance from 1976. In 2007 the law has changed according to which the Culture Ministry demanded the exclusion of Pichvnari.
Nino Inashvili, head of the scientific research institute of Archeology said the archeologists applied with the documents to the appropriate organizations, but the territory did not get the status up to today. Inashvili said this looks as a legislative loop.

Now about the Pichvnari - the area takes 100 hectares. Here are ancient Greek and Kolkh's archeological digs dated to 15 century BC. In Batumi Archeological museum are presented the ancient coins, golden and silver things found by archeologists in different periods of time.
The Parliament passed the law on "Qobulety free tourist zone" on October 26. According to that law, investors are free form the taxes for construction of hotels in Qobulety over the 11.4 hectares. According to the law the investor investing in Qobulety GEL 1 mn will be free from taxes for profit and property for 15 years. The investors have the right to buy the land in the Qobulety free tourist zone for 1 GEL for symbolic price." The each project will be decided by the special commission of Vera Qobalia, Economic Minister.

In summary, as the municipality of Qobulety is not interested with the heritage of Aiety, the Economic Minister will decide the future constructions under the Medea's father heritage. At this point the only hope is a Georgian Culture Ministry - the National Agency for defense of Cultural Heritage. The agency's director general Nikoloz Vacheishvili said to GHN that under the question they are working now.

"The question is intensively studied by our archeologists and the final decision will be published soon, "- he said.

We should wait for the development of events. And I wonder - we are proud with our historic past and at the same time we are destroying it.
