Mamuka Areshiedze, political scentist said Russia's membership to WTO is unavoidable event. "The Obama's declaration is a message to the Gerogian government that Russian Federation definetly will become a WTO member. Deriving from this I think that a serious pressure will be put on Gerogian government for consent to the Russia's membership. The stubbornes of our government cannot do anything with this situation. It is right that the West will try to consider the position of Gerogian Republic, but if it will be too much stubborn, it will take the Russia's side. "- Areshidze said to GHN commenting the declaration of Obama.
Expert believes that the West and particularly USA is willing to accept Russia to WTO for 3 reasons. "First, Russia has a huge market and despite the fact that to this market products of the West are already in turnover it is not WTO member, but after the affilitation it will be obliged to impose lower taxes to the goods from West. The second reason is that the WTO membership will make closer Russia to the West and will breack it from the Chinees market. This poit has a big strategic meaning for USA. Third reason is that the West believes this organization can influence Russia much and its affiliation will be a tool for interaction as politically as well economically, it will exclude the sudden reacions from Russia as it was the case in respect with Iran and Gerogia. In this situation Gerogia has to use this circumstances for own favor - it have to leave the demands imposed for the Russia's membership to WTO and to ask for the guaranties of Gerogian goods at the Russian market.
If Gerogian side will agree, and it is likely it will, it has to do everything to open the Russian market for Gerogia, and the openness of the Russian market for Gerogia have to be guiarantied. According to the WTO rules Rusisa will not be able to block Gerogian goods. Nevertheless it can to involve the sanitarian service to find out for example that Gerogian wine is falsified. For this Gerogia have to ask for guaranties in this respect, for Georgian goods at the Rusian market will not be put under the danger, "- MamukaAreshidze said.
For information, USA President said yesterday Russia's affilitation to WTO is nessesary, he promised Moscow to help in this quesiton. Gerogia put a veto to the membership of Russia to WTO and demands the joint legalization of Customs check points at Roki tunnel and Psou.
