The parliamentary opposition presented to the GRECO experts the information about financing of the political parties. After the meeting Dmitry Lortkianidze, oppositional MP said to journalists main subject of discussion was a question of financing of the political parties and the transparency of its spending.
"We passed the information on how far effective is the control mechanism that is carried out over the existing legislative base. We have a common view point on the matter that political parties have to regulate independently its financing sphere and this area should be self regulated , ‘ - Lortkipanidze said. The torts and violations committed by political parties will be easily revealed now, he noted.
GRECO will publish the recommendations and reports about Georgia for the nest year. The organization Group States against Corruption was established in 1999. It carries out CoE member states dynamic check and monitoring directed against corruption. The GRECO makes evaluation for the corruption level and policy and gives recommendations for the legislative and institutional reforms.
