Democracy's Wane
The recession of democracy - this is a headline of the influential USA newspaper The Wall Street Journal. In many countries the situation with political freedoms in many countries getting worse.
A few time passed since the democracy wave stroke the world. Orange, Rose and other colored revolutions accomplished now. Authors of the article said one of the reason for this is an absence of the attention from the USA.
"In the world the recession of democracy is, this happens despite of the fact does anybody pay attention to it or not. Maybe one of the reasons for this is inattention form the USA to this question."
The authors of the article are taking as an example the fraud of Parliamentary elections by Birman Generals in November and as well a falsification of elections by the modern life Egyptian pharaoh Hosney Mubarak. "These examples are taken separately however they are presenting the common tendency. The democracy degraded in Russian Federation, Thailand and Venezuela. In this respect some progress was noted in Iraq, Lebanon and Turkey. Nevertheless this time the events are developing differently and Lebanon has to pay attention to authoritative Syria and Hezbollah. Freedom House noted that it is a 4 -th year already as a number of the countries with the civil and political freedoms problems is increasing.
Authors of the article noted that the reason for this is the difficult economic situation and as well the fact that some authoritative leaders have used this situation for own advantage. They strengthened own position over populist ways. The increasing of the prices for oil strengthened the position of Hugo Chaves in Venezuela and Vladimir Putin in Russia.

Authors recalling after the Second World War period when the authoritarian states were blooming.
"However in 1980 the wave of democratization started as the USA of Ronald Reigan became a model for the democracy. This tendency lasted up to 1990s. And as well to the next period. This time in the world the democratic elections system exists in 116 countries. 20 years ago there was only 76 such countries. George Bush son believed the fight for democracy was his trade mark. For this in many countries serious changes happen. But at the second Presidential term his fight for the democracy stopped after the wining in Iraq and Palestine elections of Hamas. This line of Bush was delayed as well for the pragmatist policy that was carried out by Bush in Iran and North Korea, "- authors of the article said.
"During the 2008 pre elections campaign President Obama totally refused to fight for the democracy. He agreed with Liberals that the moral face of USA suffered much (Guantanamo prisons, torture), therefore USA has no moral right to talk about the values with world. The USA experts responded to the loosing of the trust to democracy immediately - it would be between if USA became a second China, for one day for instance to make possible to avoid the Constitutional dullness and to implement own dreams. In Peking in Moscow and in other cities this was understood as USA is not aspired anymore to the establishment of democracy in the world. To this matter Obama made several statements, but his words were not spread to the politics, "- the article reads.
At the end of the article authors noted that the USA society is very busy with own internal affairs and is not inclined to propagate the democracy values.
"But the democratic states are better allays then authoritarian ones, and authoritarian states are making more troubles in the world. The world democratic recession is damaging for the USA and USA President and State Secretary have to look for the ways for the reversing of such process, ‘- the article reads.
