Tbilisi State University Academic Council elected new rector. The elections were held according to the established procedures, the Academic Council upheld the candidate who has most real and strong concept. Giorgi Liluashvili (one of the candidates) demanded not allowing for ballot for Alexander Kvitashvili and Tengiz Urushadze, as Alexander Kviashvili was an Academic Council's chairman and holds an administrative post in the University. On this ground he has no right to participated in University elections. He said that the Court satisfied his demand in connection with Kvitashvili. Nevertheless, Mikheil Devdariani, Elections Committee Chairman said that according to the amendments in the legislation, Kvitashvili has a right to take part in University elections, and accordingly no violations were committed in this case.
The 27-th rector of the Tbilisi State University the Academic Council elected by absolute majority of voting. His term of Office will last 4 years.
