Scientist in international questions expert Kakha Gogolshvili said the establishment of mini NATO stipulated  new defense system that will be for security in Arctic.
"So called northern cooperation or the so called mini NATO establishment probably is aimed at the creation of defense systems that are for prevention of confrontation in Arctic, appropriation of territories even by RF. It is known that the RF has ambitions for the wide territory of Arctic. "Russia declared that the bottom of the ocean in this territory is in his ownership, "- Gogolashvili said to GHN.
In this context expert believes that the NATO summit in London that will be held today is aimed for the creation of mini NATO for curbing of excessive ambitions of Russia in Arctic. UK, 3 Baltic states and 5 Scandinavian states are discussing the problem. "According to the international law the bottom of the ocean does not belongs to any state, and all states equally have the right for activity in this region. Nevertheless Russia claims it will defend with its military forces its territory there. The creation of mini NATO will somehow curb the ambitions of Russia. Russia should know that if it will start military confrontation it may be stopped by the force that exceeds its own," - Kakha Gogolshvili said.
What about the interests of Georgia in connection with this question for our country this is less important. However this will decrease the ambitions of Russia, this will be in favor for us. We will not be involved in this cooperation, as we have no touching points with Arctic, Gogolashvili noted.
