Merab Kalandadze, 37 miner died immediately after the explosion that took place in Mindeli mine in the town of Tkibuli of Imereti Region in Western Georgia at midnight.
Four people were injured in the incident. They were transferred to hospital in Tbilisi. Representatives of the local government and governor of Imereti Region visited the injured miners. As reported, the government will cover all the expenses of their medical treatment and the funeral of the killed miner.
Reasons of the explosion are uncertain yet.
The four miners injured in the explosion in Tkibuli mine are undergoing medical treatment in hospital in Tbilisi. Three of them are in the resuscitation department. They have received burns of their respiratory system and limbs. Health condition of Vitaliy Turdzeladze is especially difficult. He has got burn on 60 percent of his body.
For information, the Mindeli mine of Tkibuli has been operating since 1973. In 2010 two explosions took place in the mine. All the incidents were caused by violation of security rules.
