Mamuka Areshidze, expert in Caucasian questions said the set of laws concerning the mountain regions are to be immediately worked out. The population should stay at the region and return back to the mountains. He commented this question to the news agency GHN.
"The most difficult situation is in the Northern border of our country. On the large territory that is stretched over 700 kilometers is populated only with 30 people. The Eastern mountain region of Georgia is totally empty, except of the valley. This can cause high risks, and in the short period it can be ended with tragedy, "- Areshidze said to GHN.
He said the government first of all should be interested to facilitate the living of the population and to give them easiness in economy and budgets. "Russia exploits the situation of emptiness at the Georgian mountain regions, as this territory is difficult to defend." Areshidze believes that if the Georgian government is not ready yet to support the high mountain region dwellers, it can lose additional territory there.
