As a result of large scale operation conducted by investigation group of Finance Ministry, 16 employees of Healthcare Ministry arrested as well representatives of insurance companies connected with them, GHN reports.
As a result of joint cooperation representatives of Healthcare Ministry and insurance companies appropriated money allocated for insurance polices for socially unprivileged. Details of this case and names of the detained persons will be made public later on.
For information, in the beginning of February in the Healthcare system new scandal emerged. It was detected that only 40 % of total 248 millions allocated by government for population were spent. The audit made public this data. "Only 1.5 were spent for insured,"- the conclusion reads. According to the investigation the profit exceeded 60% (at the same time in such cases abroad only 4% of profit is possible).
"The insurance companies gained profit in amount of 170 mn GEL. This denotes that the insurance sector has a high risks and insufficiencies; absence of the strict governmental control; dishonest actions of insurance companies; artificial restrictions in medical services; not sufficient informing of the participants of the insurance program; inaccuracies in the bases of participants of the program, " - the report reads.
For information, the program of state insurance for citizens with the participation of insurance companies started in 2008. The government allocated 284 million GEL for this purpose.
