The European Parliament passed the "Anti Russian" resolution about the supremacy of law in Russian Federation. The Russian Duma MPs expressed its dissatisfaction in this respect. The document was passed as a result of debates in European Parliament on February 15. Several Court hearings and the last year's justice insufficiencies caused doubts in the independence of Justice System in Russian Federation.
The Interfax informs that the necessity for passing this document was explained by European Parliament MPs with the second case of Khodorkovsky and Levbedev in Russian Court. EP called Russian Federation to make every effort for achievement of transparency and of the Justice system in Russia as it was promised by Russian President. Except of Khodorkovsky the resolution as well mentions those opposition activists who were detained on December 31 during the public gathering that was permitted by authorities among them was Boris Nemtsov.
At the same time the European Parliament MPs reminded the Russian government about violations in Northern Caucasus. They called to remember about the supremacy of law. As well they are reminded to find those who are guilty in murder of journalists and public defenders and to make them answerable before the law. The resolution named murdered persons: Natalia Estemirova, Andrey Kulagin, Zarem Sdulaeva, Alik Jibrailov, Maksharif Aushev, Stanislav MArkelov, Anastasia Baburova and Ana Politkovskaia.
The report named the fact of death in the pretrial detention of Lawyer of the Hermitage Capital Sergey Magnitski. Magnitski was detained in 2008 for the non payment of taxes. In 2009 November 16 he died.
PACE called Russian Federation to implement all decisions of the ECtHR. The European Parliament as well called the CoE to support Russia for the independence and unbiased justice system development.
The resolution as well discussed the terrorist attack in Domodedovo airport, which was committed by suicide terrorist on January 24 of 2011. 36 people died and 200 injured as a result of explosion. The resolution is passed to Russian government and Parliament for review.
