Before the end of 2011 in Georgia olive groves will be planted to 500 hectares, Bakur Kvezereli, agriculture minister said in conversation with GHN.
Minister noted that the olive groves plantation will make possible to export this production abroad. This will be one more chance to attract investors in this area as many are not aware that in Georgia excellent climate for cultivating of these plants is. Minister said Turkish and Israeli businessmen are interested in this area.
"Our aim is to produce the production for export. Georgia has a potential for plantation of olives, citruses and other plans which are of high demand abroad. Alongside with our traditional products wine, nuts and citruses, the olives and kivi products will be exported, "- Bakur Kvesereli said.
For information, last year the company Geolife invested in agriculture 1.2 million GEL, they are interested in olive products as well.
