Today in the Tbilisi State University the conference was held dedicated to the repressions in 1987-39 in Georgia.
The investigation of repressions was carried out in many different directions. The documents stored in the MIA were studied and analyzed. The interviews with the families of victims of repressions were taken. The investigation of so-called "Troika" was done.
In the Archive of Ministry of Internal Affairs many archives are kept jointly - USSR period "KGB" archive and USSR party archive. This gives a wide spectrum for the investigation of the repression period in details. It should be noted that during the well known 1991 - 1992 yy events in Georgia a big part of the archive was ruined.
"The aim of the project is to provide with the exhaustive information all interested in this subject. The unknown facts will be made public. The participants of the conference shared the information and research results in this area. At the end of a conference the monograph will be published.
For information, the Volkswagen Fund financed the project which stared operation since 2009. The aim of the project is the gathering of information about repressions period in Georgia.
