Paata Zaqareishvili, scientists in conflicts said that Georgia became a transit corridor for  narcotics. This happens only for one reason the Borders Police is useless. "The problem is that Georgian Borders Police is useless in controlling  borders. It is weak and cannot provide with this function. I never heard if someone was stopped at a border with smuggling narcotics," - Zaareishvili said to GHN.

He disagrees with the idea that the rout leads over Abkhazia and S.O. regions, as they are not controlled by Georgian authorities. Contrary he noted that after 2008 military operations the possibility of narcotics transit from these territories decreased. "The most part of drugs comes here from Central Asia and Azerbaijan not a doubt that S.O. and Abkhazia is a rout for narcotics transit. But this was earlier when the Russian Forces freely moved from one territory to another. But after the Russians are prohibited to enter Georgian territory we are controlling in full our borders and at this background I believe  narcotics turnover decreased, - he said.
