The internet edition Wikileaks blamed France and Germany in lobbying of Russia during the August war against Georgia GHN reports.
The leaked diplomatic correspondence published in the above mentioned web page reads that in November of 2008 from the USA embassy in Stockholm the qualified tape of the conversation between Robert Silverman and Johan Frisel, high rank diplomat, was sent to Washington. Presumably envoy said that France was trying to persuade Stokholm and Poland to soften its positions against Russia in EU sanctions, the Rosbalt informs based on other source of information.
"Frisel said France was threatening with a freezing of the program of the Eastern Partnership (6 East European states non EU members), in case if Stockholm and others will hinder the restoration of negotiations between RF and EU. They were insisting on keeping the affairs with RF as nothing ever happen, "- Silverman reported to the Washington.
"After the decision was taken to start again the work under the agreement on partnership and cooperation (between EU and RF), Poland and Stockholm who initiated the Western partnership got the green light from France, "- he reported. The agreement on the peace that ended the military conflict was concluded over the France's mediation. One of its demands was a withdrawal of Russian Armed Forces from Georgia. Moscow believes that all agreements were fulfilled by withdrawal of army from so called inalienable part of Georgian territory (deep inside the country). Nevertheless the West insists that the Abkhazia and S.O. also are inalienable part of Georgia, and Russian army has to move out from there as well.
