NATO took a decision for 24hour aerial reconnaissance over the Libyan airspace. The marine forces will be involved in this military mission at the same time.
Andres Fog Rassmusen, NATO Secretary General said no military intervention is expected but the military forces are to be ready for actions in accordance with the developed events.
He underlined any such decision must be preceded by UN mandate. "We are not about to make any military intervention to Libya, but we ask our soldiers to be ready for any possible development of events. We decided to send to the region air and marine reconnaissance groups. NATO military helicopters are involved. They participated in antiterrorist operations in the region. The control will be imposed for 24hour/day. We need full information about the events, "- Rassmussen said.
