The Foreign Direct Investment in Georgia for the fourth quarter decreased for 25% to compare with the previous quarter. At the same time in 2010 the FDI reached 533 mn USD. This is for 16% less than last year in the same period, - the BG Capital prognoses.
The company informs as well that the 35% of the FDI is aimed for the transport and communications sector, and the agriculture and manufacturing sector got 90 mn USD each. The Netherlands are main investor country with its 143 mn USD. To be noted that the investments in privatization decreased twice and amounted to 49 mn USD.
"In 2010 the FDI coincieded with our prognoses, but are still less then was prognosed by government. It was 771 mn USD. Despite of the improved macroeconomic situation the FDI decreased. This is because of the increased geopolitical risks. Taking into consideration the successful reforms carried out in our country and the positive macroeconomic prognoses, we expect that current year the FDI will amount to 700 800 mn USD, "- Giorgi Iremashvili, economic analyst said.
