Reuniting Europe and Building Capacity for EU Integration
"EU Skills", a three-year project is implemented by the British Council and funded by the UK Government's Strategic Programme Fund. The project is implemented in partnership with the Government of Georgia with direct support from the Prime Minister and the State Ministry for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Georgia.
HM Ambassador Denis Keefe says: ‘this is a very important project. From my time helping the Czech Republic to join the European Union, I know how important it is for countries to continue to learn new skills as they integrate into Europe'.
The goal of the project is to strengthen the capacity of local state institutions and agencies in all three South Caucasus Countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia to manage the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument and Eastern Partnership processes more effectively. The project is delivered in 4 main phases and consists of the following components and activities: Training sessions, Train the Trainer programme, Networking, Experience sharing.
The second phase of the project - series of training courses will be launched on 30 November 2009. Training sessions on Presentation Skills for 34 government officials will be conducted from 30 November to 4 December. The Ministry of Economic Development of Georgia provided the special support to the project by hosting the training run by the European expert Ms.Paola Fornari Hanna. The trainer will present the EU models of practical skills and techniques of making effective presentation.
Training programmes are based on the survey of needs analysis conducted early in June 2009 in all 3 participating South Caucasus countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. We believe this project will be one more step towards the process of Georgia's integration with European structures.
