USA and UK Armed Forces directed more than 100 Tomahawk-type rockets against Libya. The information was disseminated by William Gortin, vice-Admiral in Pentagon.
"USA and UK vessels directed 110 tomahawk-type rockets against Libya. Based on the UN resolution we now create the possibility for a closed airspace over Libya, "- vice Admiral said, the CNN reports.
He said the rockets are directed against 20 strategic objects in Libya in the western part of the country. He refrained from the further disclosure of actions of the coalition. He said the main aim of the coalition (USA, UK, Canada, France, Italy) is to defend the peaceful population from the regime of Muammar Qaddafi.
Presently in the Mediterranean sea 25 ships and submarine vessels of coalition are. In the region 5 USA reconnoiter planes are controlling the space. No exact information is given about the air forces of coalition.
