Alexander Rondeli, director of the Georgian Strategic and International Research Fund said the regulation of the conflict in the Northern Caucasus is possible only through the interference of international community to the situation.
The Northern Caucasus is an explosive dangerous region. If the Russian Federation will not change the existing regime there (if it will continue to rule as a classic colonist, will be radical and will be forceful) this situation will get worse. The only force which can restrain Russian Federation is an International Community and particularly the EU. As the Russians hate everything what is American, "- Rondeli said today at the 76-th Rose Ross seminar in Tbilisi. He noted that if Russian Federation will continue the colonial regime in the Northern Caucasus, Russia will finally loose the Caucasus. At the same time the misunderstanding exists between Northern and Southern Caucasus.
"If we will look at the map we will see that Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia are very distinguished from the countries in Northern Caucasus. We are trying to be distant from these countries not because we hate them but because the politics of Russian Federation in these regions is very dangerous. Constant confrontation, violence is hindering to the democratic development of the region, the reason is RF, "- Rondeli said.
We should restore the good relations with the Northern Caucasus as this region is very important for us. We abolished the visa regime with this region and this invoked an irritation of Russian Federation, - Rondeli noted.
