If Georgia really wishes to return Abkhazia and S.O. it should forget for a while about these territories. At the same time in the question of restoration of territorial integrity Georgia should rely only on itself. Andrei Piontkovsly, leading specialist of the Institute of Systematic Analysis of the Russian Federation Academy of Science gave to Georgian society in conversation with news agency GHN.
- Despite of years of discussions of the conflicts in Georgia on the international arena the situation factually is deadlocked. Do you think, Georgia has any even distant perspective for the restoration of its territorial integrity and return of territories?
-I can give a paradoxical reply for you question. If you really wish to return these territories, you should simply forget about them for a while. The best way to do this - is to show to all the economic, cultural and political development of Georgia. This is what are you doing now. The people will see what is happening in your country and form the other side in its own.
- Whose help we should rely on in this question?
-I am far from the nativity. You in the question o restoration of territorial integrity have to rely only upon yourself.
- The mass media discusses the information about Kremlin demand to take 160 cubic kilometers from Abkhazia. Do you think this process will be realized?
- I simply do not believe to this information. If this is a case, you should only wonder it to happen. As in such case the Abkhazian government will became a traitor in the eyes of own population. As far I am informed the tensions between those two governments are increasing as well (between Russia and Abkhazia). There are some inconsistencies - Abkhazians are taking its independence as a real independence not only from Georgia but as well from Ruffian Federation. At the same time the Kremlin has other point of view. They consider this territory as own territory.
- Do you think Abkhazians will be prosperous with RF?
- I think these two processes will promote each other. Abkhazians will be more and more disappointed with Russian Federation. They are not independent but are a colony of Russian Federation. The other side of the coin will be a prosperous Georgia which will became more and more attractive. In fact the Gagra detachment is a sham, unfortunately. Because this is very good for Georgia, this will make naked the Kremlin's character and invoke immediate fundamental crisis inside Abkhazia.
- Do you think the occupation is RF's actions in Abkhazia and S.O.?
- We can discuss the terms but in fact this is so factually. But I would repeat in the long term perspective this is in favor for the return of Abkhazia to Georgia. For Georgia two things are important - to show an example of democratic development and reforms in the country. All are excited with the reforms of police, even those who are Georgia's and Saakashvili's enemies.
