The day of Georgian Police is marked for the second time on May 6, 2011. The annual celebration was announced as an official day of the police last year and the first parade was held outside the new office of the Interior Ministry.
This time, the police parade will be held in Batumi, in a new boulevard.
In addition, people in Batumi are celebrating another event - the seventh anniversary of the Adjara revolution. The revolution seven years ago ended with the liberation of Adjarians from the governance of Aslan Abashidze. The renegade leader fled Batumi on 6 May 2004 after several day mass demonstrations and since then he has been living in Russia together with his family.
Various events are planned on the day in Batumi..
