Russian occupants wounded two Georgian young men with a gun in Chalvani village, Sachkhere district of Imereti region. Health condition of one of the injured, 17-year-old Giorgi Lomtadze, remains critical. Doctors are trying to save his life.
The incident occurred at 8 AM this morning. Five young men were gathering greens in Cholto Gorge, which is located in proximity of occupation line. Russian soldiers tried to detain them and opened fire. The youngsters were taken to hospital where they were operated on.
Representatives of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia are trying to probe into the details of Sachkhere incident. The group of international observers is working at the scene. The mission will presumably release the related information later.
Official Tbilisi assesses the incident as international crime and yet another provocation plotted by the Russian side.
